Sinner grew up in California, moved to Wyoming for work, and has been in Denver about ten years, unhoused for roughly that whole time. He came to Denver on purpose after his mother died shortly after a bitter fight; the guilt over their last words sent him into heavy drug use that has since become an addiction. He’s a Gulf War veteran and a journeyman welder with real skills—he says he could “build an entire city” from blueprints—but addiction and life events derailed that path.

He’s tried treatment: Suboxone helped him for about a year and he’s on the verge of trying again; he believes that getting housing would let him detox safely (he expects three days of acute withdrawal, about 30 days to feel normal) and then rebuild toward work. He’s frustrated by gaps in reentry and veteran services but recognizes Colorado offers resources if he can reach for them. His big, quiet goal is simple: a modest home, a garden, someone to love, and the dignity of getting sober and working again.
