Nicole Brewer shares a deeply personal and painful account of life on the streets of Denver. A survivor of domestic abuse, systemic neglect, and repeated trauma, Nicole speaks openly about the exploitation and violence that women, especially unhoused women, face daily. She discusses the drug epidemic—particularly the dangers of synthetic drugs like spice laced with fentanyl and heroin—and how they are used as tools for abuse and control.

She recounts being physically assaulted, choked, and left with visible injuries, while institutions and shelters fail to provide protection or support. Nicole talks about being discriminated against by shelter staff, her experience with homelessness policy, and how support is conditional and dehumanizing. Despite all this, she finds strength in love—for her dog Honey, for her children, for others on the street—and a sense of purpose in advocacy.
